Tony's story was written by James Zull. You can find it in his book "The Art of Changing the Brain - Enriching the Practice of Teaching by Exploring the Biology of Learning", 2002. The file below - "What Happened to Tony" - is an excerpt from Zull's book (pages 64 and 65).

Great Article from a great man!!! Sure getting to know why certain types of behaviour take place sheds light on how we can better respond to these issues more effectively. The more we try to understand our students, the more helpful we can be!!! It has happened to me that those unwilling to learn anything from me turned into the best students just because I made the effort to see into their souls...brain included =)

The explanation about what happened in Tony's brain is excellent and very clear. It really helps to understand the brain's functioning.

It is true that we have had many Tony`s in our classes as well as students have had many teachers with the same kind of behavior. The learning of our behavior through the brain is changing education and many aspects of our lives. I think that Tony`s story is an excellent example of how our brain works and it helps us to be more aware to deal with different kinds of behavior and also the way we behave.
